Illustrator Jeroen Koolhaas and Art Director Dre Urhahn started their enormous favela paintings back in 2006, working with the community to cover entire buildings and hillsides with images of kite runners and cascading rivers. Going by the moniker Haas & Hahn, the duo have just put the finishing touches to their latest project in the Santa Marta neighborhood of Rio, a mammoth art piece spread over 7000 square meters, involving no less than 34 buildings. With the help of local residents, “O Morro” or “The Hill” took a just over a month to complete, and you can see the initial artistic renderings of their kaleidoscopic vision after the jump.
